A Gift Certificate does not have any value until it is sold, at which time the cashier enters the amount which the customer wishes to put on the card. This number is rarely stored on the card, but is instead noted in the store's database.

Paper Gift Certificates are sent to recipient by regular mail. E-Certificates are sent to recipient by email, normally within one business day of order. It's a very fast way to send a wonderful gift.

You need to know the followings about gift Certificates: Gift certificates and unused portions of gift certificates should be spent within a specified period of time,  usually 18 months from the date of issuance, which is the "spend by" date included on the gift certificate. Gift certificates can only be redeemed through specified merchants. Gift certificates are not redeemable for cash and cannot be returned for a cash refund. Any unused balance will be placed in the recipient's gift certificate account and is not transferable. The original expiration date will apply to any unused balance.
